Last week our team, in partnership with Brynawel House, were both surprised and delighted to win an award at the Welsh Pharmacy Awards 2023, in the 'Management of Substance Dependency Category.'

Brynawel House is a leading residential centre for the treatment of alcohol and drug dependencies in Wales. In a beautiful setting, guests are given expert treatment and holistic support to help them overcome their battles.

The surgery team has worked in partnership with Brynawel House for many years, managing the general primary care needs. But more recently we have collaborated intensively in order to deliver specific treatment for patients with alcohol dependence and substance misuse disorder.

This partnership has demonstrated significant benefits, both to patients and the wider service model. It means that patients start their journey to a successful recovery in a setting that provides all-round support for their specific needs. But also, the partnership provides a more streamlined and efficient care model which shows what can be achieved when a specialist third sector organisation and a primary care partner work together in tandem.

So we were absolutely delighted to win the 'Management of Substance Dependency' category at the Welsh Pharmacy Awards 2023, against stiff competition. Congratulations and thanks to all involved, especially our colleagues in Brynawel House!
