Community Summer School Holiday Activities

Please see list of collated community activities happening across the borough for families to take part in during the school holidays.

  • Feel Good for Life – Dementia Friendly Activity Session (Fridays 1.30-3.15pm North Cornelly). Each session costs £2.50. Carers go FREE and everyone gets complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits. Respite is an option. To book visit: https://haloleisure.org.uk/feelgoodforlife

  • Autism Friendly Swimming Sessions for children 4+ in Ynysawdre HALO pool (4 day programme Monday 7th August - Thursday 10th August with 30 min slots (9:30; 10:00; 10:30; 11:00). Concessionary rate of £20.50 (Price subject to approval. Further concessions available for families qualifying for certain means tested benefits).

  • Teen Fit Hit Summer Pass (for 12- to 17-year-olds wanting to access the gym, group exercise classes, swimming & indoor climbing wall, with a summer pass! The pass is valid from 24 July to 3 September for £30, and is available to buy between 1 July to 31 July) To buy a pass contact local HALO site or visit the website.

The HALO dementia friendly programme is running a 'Dementia Friendly' physical activity session every Friday (13:30 - 15.15) at North Cornelly Community Centre.

The sessions provide opportunity for people living with dementia, loneliness and depression and their carers to participate in physical activist such as Boccia, Kurling and skittles, and to socialise/reminisce over tea and coffee.

Community Transport is also available upon request.

Richard Price Centre

Please find attached poster with information for a second Richard Price exhibition to be held at the Richard Price centre in Llangeinor on August 4th.

Carers UK

Carers UK are running a survey on unpaid carers and ask that you kindly share the survey with members and ask them to complete it. This survey will close on Thursday 3 August and the results will be shared later in the year.

Huge thanks to colleagues across Carers UK for helping with the survey, as well as unpaid carers for offering their expertise.

  • Out of the deep blue – amazing large puppet and street theatre show in Maesteg welfare Park 13th August. This is a very special , accessible show that has a walk about puppet that will go round the park and will end with a street theatre show. Its amazing . Shows at 11.30am, 2pm and 4pm
